By Kim Ji-eun

Ambassador and Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy Hong Seok-in held the second briefing on the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree for the diplomatic corps in Korea on August 7.

In the briefing, attended by officials from the diplomatic missions of 78 countries in Korea, Ambassador and Deputy Minister Hong explained contingency plan in response to Typhoon Khanun moving northward, and listened to the opinions of the diplomatic missions in Korea.

In the briefing, participants expressed appreciation to the Korean government for making a difficult decision in a timely manner and to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its efforts to actively communicate with the diplomatic missions in Korea. They also reaffirmed that the safety of participants in the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree should be the top priority.

Ambassador and Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy Hong Seok-in emphasized that all government agencies and the private sector will continue to make efforts to ensure safety and enjoyable time for participants of the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree during the remaining period.

Since the first briefing held on August 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formed the 2023 World Scout Jamboree Task Force led by Vice Minister Oh Young-ju, actively communicating with the diplomatic missions in Korea on a 24-hour basis, gathering opinions, and conveying them to the organizing committee for the 25th World Scout Jamboree.
