Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, who was visiting New Delhi, India, as part of the G20 Summit delegation, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on September 10 to discuss current issues in bilateral relations and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Minister Park discussed with his Russian counterpart the safety of Korean nationals in Russia and ways to resolve difficulties of Korean companies in Russia, and emphasized that bilateral relations on the Korean Peninsula should proceed in a way that contributes to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia while complying with Security Council resolutions.

Minister Park also emphasized the need for a speedy end to the war in Ukraine and the restoration of peace, and called for constructive cooperation with Russia in the Security Council, including on the North Korean issue, in light of the ROK's appointment as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
