During the meeting on July 12, President Yoon, on the occasion of attending the NATO Summit, exchanged views with President Sauli Niinistö on the development of bilateral relations, strengthening substantive cooperation, international trends, and cooperation on the international stage.

Both leaders emphasized the need to enhance cooperation not only in the fields of science and technology and defense, which have continued to develop, but also in areas such as support for startups, management of radioactive waste, and electric vehicle battery supply chains, in light of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.

In particular, the two leaders agreed to closely cooperate on joint research and international standardization of 6G technology, considering that both countries possess excellent companies in the field of telecommunications.

Furthermore, they exchanged views on the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula, as well as the international situation, including the situation in Ukraine.

President Yoon congratulated Finland on its NATO membership in April this year, and both leaders reaffirmed their solidarity with the international community's support for Ukraine, and agreed to closely cooperate for Ukraine's early peace and recovery.
