MOLIT Minister Won discusses 'infrastructure cooperation' with Indonesian Ambassador

The meeting was organized at the request of Indonesian Ambassador to Korea Sulistiyanto

By Lee Kap-soo

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) announced on Nov. 1 that MOLIT Minister Won Hee-ryong and Indonesian Ambassador to Korea Gandi Sulistiyanto met in Seoul to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between South Korea and Indonesia in areas such as smart cities, new capital development, and railway infrastructure.

The meeting was organized at the request of Ambassador Sulistiyanto, who left South Korea earlier this month to return to his home country to serve as an adviser to the Indonesian president.

"I am confident that Korean companies with sufficient capabilities in various fields such as construction and IT will provide great support for the construction of the new capital of Indonesia," Won said during the meeting, adding, "I would like to ask for your interest and support as a presidential adviser."

In response, Ambassador Sulistiyanto said, "I hope to further strengthen cooperation with Korea on infrastructure projects such as the Jakarta Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Phase 4 and the Bali Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, and I will do my best as a presidential advisor."

Earlier, MOLIT dispatched the One Team Korea delegation to Indonesia (March 15-18), which consisted of 62 organizations and companies, the Korea-Indonesia Economic Cooperation Forum (March 24), the Korea-Indonesia Business Forum (May 3), and a meeting with the Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Housing (July 7), and said that it plans to continue to actively support Korean companies' order-winning activities.
